In the last post I wrote about Enlightenment in Blood, I discussed the thinking behind our approach to character creation. In this post, I'll explain what that means in practice.

You as the participant will use a special online tool to help you with character creation and to place you in the game. As you log on, the tool will ask you questions. Based on your answers, it will give you more choices until you have everything you need to play the game.

The first question is the most important one: Do you wish to explore the World of Darkness, or inhabit it? These are the two modes of playing Enlightenment in Blood, and they also limit and inform all the choices that come later.

Typically, the stranger creatures of the World of Darkness tend to be under "inhabit", while the "explore" option gives a simpler, more straightforward Anarch vampire experience.

After the initial question, the tool asks you about what kind of a game you want to play, and based on your answers, suggests different groups. The group is the core building block of the game, and choice of group has a big impact on what kind of a game you'll experience. The choice of group also allows for friends to play together: Simply coordinate to choose the same ones.

From the groups, the tool will move to categories such as vampire Clans that will further define your character. You will get a short background concept. The next step after that is personality and supernatural powers. You can make different choices concerning your character's abilities and delve deeper into her personality. The latter is especially important because it will connect you to the core themes of the game.

By the time you've reached the last choice in the tool, you should have a solid basis for fleshing out a character to fully experience Enlightenment in Blood.
