On Thursday, May 11th, we have secured a historic movie theatre, the intimate and charming Delphi, for a gala screening of World of Darkness – the Documentary. The brand new film is directed by Giles Alderson and will depict the history of the White Wolf company, its illustrious founders, and charts the powerful cultural impact the World of Darkness has had on fashion, art, literature and film. (If this sounds a little general it’s because the film is literally still in production, but from talking to the filmmakers it does sound very exciting! Check out the trailer below)…

To create the gala atmosphere together, we are encouraging dressing up! Our suggested dress code is “Elysium formal” – monster-appropriate evening wear through the ages. Regardless of the name, we’ll of course also welcome looks representing beings that would never set foot or paw in an Elysium… Be creative! We will be putting together an inspirational pinterest board here!

Three Questions for Kevin Lee

Did you have a relationship with the World of Darkness before setting out on your journey with this film? No. Nothing. It was a process of self discovery for me as I worked through the story and material with the White Wolf Publishing people – Shane, Dhaunae, Martin and Tobias.

What has been your greatest surprise during the work so far? The depth and scope of the World of Darkness and the dedication of the fans. Plus the influences it had on other genres after it’s success, like Marvel, Vampire Diaries, True Blood…to name a few.

What would you like WoD fans to take with them from the movie? I think this movie is primarily for the fans and I want them to feel both proud about “their universe”, and honoured that someone has taken their story seriously and attempted to tell it to the world. I want this to be a collector’s item for the fans and that they feel they need to own it, like you would of a band every time they release a new record.

Time, Place and Tickets

The screening will take place on Thursday, November 11th, at 7PM (doors and bar open at 6.15 PM). The film is expected to be around 90 minutes long and will be followed by a Q&A. The venue is the historical Delphi cinema, which has stood virtually untouched since 1929. The address is Gustav-Adolf-Straße 2, 13086 Berlin, Germany: the venue’s web page is here.

Tickets to this screening are included in the Early Bird price until December 10th (or until we run out).

Please note that this screening is scheduled against the second run of End of the Line! If you’ve bought an Early Bird ticket but will attend the second run of End of the Line we’d be happy to fix it for you so someone else can use your chair at the screening! Please get in touch.
